So today I’m sharing 3 healthy holiday protein smoothies for fall that will help you stay on track with your fitness goals while enjoying every sip along the way.

Protein Powder Recommendations
Before we get to my 3 healthy fall smoothies, let’s talk protein powder. That is, after all, what makes a protein smoothie a protein smoothie.
Protein helps elevate a smoothie from a snack into a more substantial meal that keeps me full longer, fuels my body with energy and meets my nutritional goals for the day.
A quality protein powder will make or break the difference in your protein smoothie. I try to aim for a low-carb, high-protein powder that’s easy on the taste buds and the digestive system.
Here are three protein powder brands that I’ve tried, approved and will work with my smoothie recipes.

High-Quality Whey Protein
Gluten-free and soy-free, SFH Pure Whey Protein Powder is made of grass-fed whey that is that is 100% GMO and artificial ingredient-free. As someone who is dairy-sensitive, I’ve tried and enjoyed a variety of flavors of this whey protein powder without any issues and give it a solid thumbs up. Whey protein also tends to deliver a greater concentration of protein per serving.
High-Quality Vegan Protein
SFH also produced a line of high-quality plant-based protein powder. This protein is powdered by pea protein, mushrooms, fiber, healthy fats, and MCTs. It’s gluten-free, soy-free and also carries no added sugars or artificial flavors.
Most vegan protein powders carry a less concentrated dose of protein per serving (20 grams of protein vs 31 in their pure whey powder), but I find it’s easy to balance this by using a scoop and a half of vegan protein to achieve a higher dose of protein per serving.
Tasty and Budget-Friendly Whey
Quest Nutrition Protein Powder
Quest Protein powders are gluten-free, soy-free, high-protein and low-carb. Their protein is smooth, delicious and won’t break the bank.

It can be challenging to find a vegan protein powder that’s low-carb, high-protein and doesn’t taste like cardboard. I tested quite a few of them during my vegan dieting experiment and Vega was actually my favorite. It’s completely dairy, soy and GMO-free and easy on the taste buds.
The Apple Pie Protein Smoothie
Do you love apple pie? Then you’re going to love this apple pie smoothie.
This low-calorie (only 363 calories, to be precise), nutrient-dense protein smoothie is packed with vitamins, minerals and 29 grams protein. With a creamy soft-serve ice cream texture and flavor that taste like a slice of apple pie, so you’ll hardly be able to believe it’s good for you (but spoiler alert: It is).

The Pumpkin Spice Protein Smoothie
Would it really be fall without a pumpkin spice recipe? Of course not.
Which makes pumpkin pie protein smoothie perfect for adding into your fall nutrition routine.
There are a lot pumpkin spice smoothies out there, but I’ve noticed many of them were either a little bland or lacked a well rounded nutritional profile. This smoothie not only tastes like a piece of pumpkin pie without the guilt. It’s only 437 calories, packed with 30 grams of protein and delivers a healthy nutrient-dense boost of minerals, antioxidants and vitamins (over 100% of your daily vitamin A needs).

The Protein Franken-Smoothie

This smoothie is just too much fun not to share. It’s bright, colorful and just in time for Halloween.
The bright color can be achieved in two ways, with food coloring or sugar-free gelatin. I used sugar-free lime gelatin in this smoothie for a Frankenstein inspired green, but if you aren’t a fan of lime you could use sugar-free cherry gelatin and go the Dracula-smoothie route.
This is a fun one to do with the family. Throw a few sprinkles on that thing and tell them it’s a milkshake. (To be fair, if fruit is nature’s candy then smoothies are nature’s milkshakes. Just sayin’.)
INGREDIENTS:
•1 Scoop vanilla protein powder (see my recommendation at bottom of post)
•1 Teaspoon Packet sugar-free lime gelatin (or sugar-free cherry)
•1/2 Cup frozen pineapple
•1/2 Frozen banana
•1 Tablespoon coconut oil
•1 Cup low-fat, non-sweetened coconut milk
DIRECTIONS:
You should know the drill by now. Toss it all in a blender. Push the button. Enjoy your smoothie goodness.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- Any nut butter will do, almond, cashew, peanut butter, etc. Peanut butter tends to have a stronger flavor that I find a little overpowering in some recipes, but if you love it, go for it!
- If you’re not feeling the almond milk, any other kind of milk will do.
- When making substitutions, just keep in mind that your macro count may slightly vary from this specific recipe. If you’re counting macros, just make sure to adjust the recipe macros in a macro calculator based on the ingredients you use.
MACROS (makes one serving):
- Calories: 355
- Carbs: 38g
- Fat: 13g
- Protein: 23g

You will love it! When I make fresh apple sauce, I portion it out and freeze it so that it doesn’t spoil. Then I can pull it out for smoothies or let it thaw for baking!
