How to Begin Prioritizing Fitness (When You Don’t Have Time)

Have you ever found yourself wanting to make strides in your diet, exercise or weight loss routine but feeling like you just never have the time? Whether you want to lose weight, gain muscle or just make some changes to improve your day-to-day quality of living, time management to juggle like and incorporate fitness is a big obstacle that we all (myself included) face on a daily basis.

Do you ever find yourself wondering: “How do other people do it??” You know, not just any people. “Those people.” The ones who appear to have a million things going on in life but still somehow seem to be finding extra hours in the day to meal prep, eat their veggies, drink their water and squeeze in exercise between work, family, errands and all other craziness throughout the week.

Time management and learning how to really prioritize our health is a big obstacle. One that can completely make or break your ability to begin seeing real, tangible results in your fitness journey. Today, we’re going to take a look at what “those people” are doing differently to make those changes and results happen and how you can begin making things happen in your own journey.

So enjoy this repost from our Motivation Monday series on Facebook that deals with learning how to push beyond some of those mental barriers and begin prioritizing your health and fitness!

Life Updates & Bringing Back Motivation Monday Videos

Okay, guys. So earlier this year, I started a Motivation Monday series on the blog Facebook page. While I enjoyed making them, I decided to take a break from for a few months; partly because life was a little busy and because I wasn’t getting much response from the videos on Facebook (making me wonder if my time would be better spent creating other kinds of content instead).

Last month, I received a message from an Instagram follower asking if I was ever going to continue making the Motivation Monday videos. She said she had enjoyed listening to them while she got ready for work in the mornings and hoped they would return soon.

I’m always trying to think of relative ways to deliver relevant content to you guys (and LOVE hearing from you when you find something helpful!). But also want to make sure I’m investing my time wisely in the creation of truly relevant material. So after taking a little time to strategize, I decided to take the plunge and create a YouTube channel (which is both exciting and scary), so that I could share past and future videos more easily on multiple platforms.

So, please enjoy this very first post with the return of Motivation Monday videos! And if you enjoy them, let me know with a comment or by subscribing to my new YouTube channel!

I thought this was really helpful for anyone looking to become healthier! I’m awful at making my health a priority and most of us just let the little day to day things get in our way.

It’s so easy to let slide by when we aren’t intentional!

It’s so easy to make excuses for getting healthier. And time is such a big one. My husband loves to say he’s too busy but the truth is he just hates exercise. I’m a health coach though so he has me to push him. But not everybody is so luckily so it’s great to find ways to get over your own excuses because health is so important.

My husband and I have been able to encourage each other to improve in different areas. I’ve helped improve his nutrition and he got me to try out weight training for the first time! It’s great when you can have a support system in your spouse.

Saying you don’t have enough time is not only the excuse people use for not exercising and eating right, but it is also used as an excuse in general to not do things you don’t want to do–like spend time with loved ones for instance. My excuse is not that I don’t have enough time, but I get a lot of exercise already just by being on my feet and moving around at work for hours! In fact, I have lost at least 10 pounds, at last count, since I first started my job!

Very true, it’s so easy to use that excuse for many things if we aren’t careful. And that is amazing progress!

I struggle so hard with this. I used to make time for exercising religiously before I had kids. Now I don’t even want to think about it. But I can tell my body wants to exercise! And you’re right, I could find time!

It’s definitely challenging in busy seasons of like to “make” time for things, especially exercise. But our bodies and our health are what allow us to be here and care for our loved ones. So taking time in invest in those things is also a long-term investment in our families!

The all or nothing mentality with fitness can get really overwhelming for me. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.

So true. And honestly, sometimes we can put too much pressure on ourselves to be “all in” all at once (which is usually overwhelming and unsustainable). I find it’s always better to start small and build your way into better habits one or two at a time over time. Like starting with setting a goal to get active for 45-60 minutes three times a week. And after a few weeks, add another small goal!

Love this! Our life is all about where our priorities lie and we need to start putting ourselves first sometimes and stop making excuses.

This was very motivational. I am always pressed for time. and that leaves me with very little time to take care of my health. It’s high time, I take charge!
